Press release from Swindon Town Supporters Club
The principle fans fund raising organisation in support of Swindon Town Football Club
Formed
a number of years ago our main aims are to improve facilities for
supporters, encourage youth development and also enhance the prospects
for Swindon Town football club through our own fund raising support.
Our
fund raising efforts are now close to reaching £150,000 (excluding the
amount raised under the joint venture of the Red Army fund ) in support
of those aims and at the same time we have also paid almost £100,000 to
fans and participants through prizes in our draws and competitions - A
fact that often may be overlooked.
Full details of our
activities, joining instructions etc. can be found at
swindontownsupportersclub.com and membership for season 2008/09 is now
available.
We are pleased to announce that we will be paying
the entire cost of taking the Centre of excellence team to Northern
Ireland to compete once again in the prestigious Milk Cup tournament
and have committed £10000 to cover the cost of their participation.
The
presentation will officially take place at half time at the Oldham game
on Saturday – a match to be dubbed Supporters Club Super Saturday
because it includes two of our other match day sponsorships for that
day.
Roger Bunce Chairman of the Supporters Club makes the following comment on the commitment to the Centre of Excellence.
“The
Supporters Club have a long and proud record of supporting youth
development at the County Ground and much of our fund raising, and in
its entirety our Pounds for Points scheme, have gone towards helping
the funding aspect of the Football club. The development of home grown
talent is one, which I believe the new administration wish to foster,
so it falls in nicely within their future plans.
Over recent
seasons the youth teams have won the Football League Alliance trophy,
made national headlines in the FA Youth Cup and had great success in
the Northern Ireland Milk Cup tournament returning with Trophies as
well player of the tournament awards.
We would like to think
that our financial support has in some way has helped those tasked with
and achieving success at that level just a little easier, whilst at the
same time developing those players for a potential breakthrough to
first team football and in recent seasons there have been some good
examples.
We have already supported the travel costs of the
Centre of Excellence to the Northern Ireland tournament for a number of
years but I am now delighted to announce that we will now not only be
covering that cost, but also the full cost of the trip amounting to
some £10000.
This level of support, of course would not be
achieved without a lot of hard work from my committee, our “helpers”
and every supporter that has participated in each of our initiatives
and my thanks go to everyone for their support.”

Press Release 13th March 2007
WINNERS LOUNGE at the COUNTY GROUND
Swindon Town Supporters Club and Swindon Town Football Club would like to announce that they have concluded negotiations over terms of a donation that is to be made by the Supporters Club to cover the cost of the recent improvements within the lounge.
Roger Bunce Supporter’s Club Chairman comments:
“I am delighted we have reached agreement with the Football Club allowing us to cover the cost of recent improvements. These improvements will not only benefit supporters but also, enhance the Football Club’s opportunity to increase revenue by making its use much more attractive to everyone in the town, as a function area.
The funding of an improvement such as this, sits within one of our primary objectives of improving facilities for fans, at the CountyGround and our involvement with these improvements also follows on quite nicely from our funding of the food bar in the same area. That facility continues to be enjoyed by many supporters on a match day.
Fans who visit the bar regularly, will also be aware that we have started to develop a legends theme and we aim to continue to develop this and make the area a permanent record of the history of Swindon Town FC which should be of great interest to fans young and old.
As part of the terms of the donation, there will be a change in naming convention and I am pleased to announce from the start of season 2007/08, the lounge will be renamed “The Supporters Club Legends bar”
However, I would like be first to reiterate to fans, that entry on match days, will remain exactly as it is today i.e. open to all supporters who have a valid “home” match ticket in what ever format. The bar will continue to be staffed and operated by the Football club as it is at present and this forms part of our formal agreement..
If any fans who have photographic quality pictures, framed or otherwise or other memorabilia that can be donated and used as part of the displays then I would be delighted to hear from them.”
Speaking on behalf of the Club, Acting Chief Executive Martyn Starnes said:
“I am delighted with the outcome of the discussions with the Supporters Club to rename and improve the facilities in the Winners/Legends Lounge.
I think supporters should be able recognise and celebrate the Club’s history with photographs and memorabilia. It seems wholly appropriate to use our match day bar facilities for this purpose.
I would like to thank Roger, his committee and all the Supporters Club members for the substantial donation they have made to pay for the cost of upgrading the Lounge and I hope everyone will enjoy the new look.”
Swindon Advertiser article re Aaron Brown
Here is the joint statement released 28th February
It has been reported in today's Swindon Advertiser that allegedly death
threats have been made against Aaron Brown.
We deplore and condemn threats of this nature, whether they are real or just
mischievous, and do so unreservedly.
We must now let the police carry out their investigations into the matter,
and ask all fans to focus and concentrate on backing Paul Sturrock and his
team in the hope that they can secure the promotion that all Town fans want
to see achieved this season.

Previous information
Please note that for Away travel, it is important to book early for your trips, as logistically coaches usually have to be booked one week ahead of matches and sometimes fans cannot be accommodated if they leave their bookings to the last minute.
Last minute booking is usually only possible when there is space left on the number of coaches already booked. You should therefore book at least one week ahead of the date of the match
